Over a number of years, the list of birds that may be seen on the Centre’s grounds has grown to 159 species.

Most of our visitors participate in the tours organized by Caligo Ventures as well as through specialty Bird Tour companies from the U.S and the U.K. If you add to that figure the number of additional species that may be seen as a result of trips that can be taken from the Centre, the total number of birds seen, for example on a typical Caligo Ventures tour, could be over 200 species!

The nesting of the Crested Oropendola colony near the main house has always been a spectacular sight for visitors, but the easily observed nesting pair of Ornate Hawk-Eagles has drawn the greatest enthusiasm in recent years.

Numerous leks of both White-bearded Manakin and Golden-headed Manakin are found along the trails of the Centre and the bell-like “bong” of the Bearded Bellbird can be heard continuously.
